About Sense-E
Semilla “Sense-E” Thompson got a memorable start in fashion. Growing up in the era where “high end street fashion” was at its peak and people innovated more of their personal design with the use of titles such as “dressmakers” and seamstresses, Semilla was inspired by the people and experiences around her and as such stimulated her passion for design by fostering collective experiences in Fashion Styling, Fashion Designing and Production Management.
Her journey started in small and large retail stores where she worked to curate outfits for customers and later led to her pursuing an Associates in Fashion Merchandising Management at FIT. Semilla also studied Micro-Computer Business but soon realized though it was necessary for her to learn it, it wasn’t exactly her niche and so she continued her studies at FIT and later received her Bachelor’s in Production Management.
While at FIT she worked as an Accessories Intern at ELLE Fashion Magazine and received the unique opportunity to work in the Fashion Department with creative director, Joe Zee, as a fashion assistant. She then moved on to assisting photoshoots with industry names like Rihanna, Mariah Carey and Ciara before moving on to work for NBC network as an independent stylist. While there, she did fashion features for NBC LXTV and was the stylist for the news cast. She also acted as Head Costume Designer on a number of short films. Semilla did all this while simultaneously working in the corporate world as a Production and Sourcing Associate.
This journey later led to her pursuing a career in Creative Fashion Consulting and the birth of her business SENSE-E Consulting.
